Evelyn Jess is a singer/songwriter from Ragged Harbour, Newfoundland.
Originally named Jessica Evelyn when she was born, she adapted her stage name by taking her Grandmother's Evelyn's name first as a tribute to her Grandmother's love and legacy
Evelyn's quirky, heartfelt songs explore Newfoundland's landscape, history and culture, while celebrating the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and focusing on themes of family, love, and mental health
Her composition ‘Trepassey in June’ won the 2018 Amelia Earhart Songwriting Competition and appears in her debut album ‘Bare Bones’ along with sister album ‘Bare Bones Live’ which were released in 2023 with nominations for MusicNL Folk Artist of the Year in both 2022 and 2023
As a featured solo artist, Jess has performed alongside Juno Award Winner, Serena Ryder, and has shared the stage with Newfoundland standouts such as Colleen Power, Kellie Loder, Sean Panting, Virginia Fudge, Jerry Stamp and Chris Picco
